[Class 31 (ii).] Apparatus for printing data on a record-card and simultaneously punching therein codeperforations corresponding to the data, comprises a head in which types and punches representing the data can be set up. Some of the data may be set up in a holder adapted to be inserted in the apparatus. The settable members may consist of bars, each provided with a type and a punch. The apparatus shown in Figs. 3 and 4 is adapted to deal with data concerning operations performed by workmen on a series of articles and comprises a casing 20 supporting a depressible head 26 in which are mounted type-bars 34, and an insertable holder 33 for type-bars 34<a>, each type-bar being provided with a numeral type 42 and a punch 44 or 44a for making a code-perforation corresponding to the numeral. The head is formed with holes 31 for receiving the punches and pins 47 at the ends of the type-bars. A hinged cover 48 for retaining the type-bars 34 is secured by a lock 51. The holder 33 has flanges 39 for engaging grooves 40 in the head, and is formed with holes 36<a> for receiving the punches 44<a> and pins 47 at the ends of the type-bars 34<a>. A detachable cover 37 for retaining the type-bars 34<a> in the holder is secured thereto by screws. The record-card is inserted through a slot 58 and rests on a perforated die-plate 21. An ink ribbon 61, carried by spools 62 runs over a platen which is arranged under the types. A stripper-plate 64 for the record-card is yieldingly supported by the head. One apparatus is used for each lot of articles upon which work is to be performed. The type-bars 34 are set up to represent the identification number of the lot, and the number of articles therein, and are then secured by the cover 48. Each workman is provided with a holder 33 in which are set up type-bars 34<a> representing his clock-number, the identification number of the operation, and the rate to be paid. The type-bars are provided with indicating-characters 43 which are visible when the type-bars have been set up. The workman, after completing his work on the lot, inserts his record-card and holder, and depresses the head by means of a knob 52, thereby printing and perforating the required data.
