Abstract

408,174. Slicing-machines. FITZPATRICK, H. D., 94, Hope Street, Glasgow.- (Maatschappij Van Berkel's Patent Naamlooze Vennootschap ; 33, Boezemsingel, Rotterdam, Holland.) Nov. 9, 1933, No. 31200. [Class 28 (ii).] In a slicing-machine of the type wherein the feed is effected by spring-means, adjustment means are provided for regulating the stress of the spring-means. The invention may be applied to a machine of the push-pull type. The substance-engager is slidable on guides 11 and includes substantially vertical posts 9 on which is slidable a member adapted for use either as a pusher or as a clamp. The feed is effected by a spring 13, supported on a rod 14, the forward end pressing on a ferrule 15 secured to the part 10 of the substance-engager, and the rearward part being housed in a thimble 16. The thimble 16 is longitudinally slidable, to vary the compression of the spring 13, and is held in one of a number of positions of adjustment by a fixed catch 19 which is engageable with any of the notches 18, Fig. 3. Marks 20 may be made adjacent to the notches to describe the corresponding spring stress, e.g. " strong," " medium," " weak."
