Abstract

406,027. Roulette apparatus. SEAVERS, R., 10, Hillingdon Road, Wavertree, Liverpool. Aug. 18, 1932, No. 23149. [Class 132 (ii).] Game apparatus comprises a hollow wheel or disc rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis and provided with pockets of unequal sizes adjacent its periphery, and a mass rotatable within a pocket of the disc under the action of centrifugal force adapted on slowing down of the disc to leave said pocket and fall into one of the pockets at the base of the disc. The hollow disc or wheel 10 is provided with recesses 12, 13, 14, &c. of different opening width and different slopes near its periphery to receive a heavy mass which may be a ball or an arrow 19 having a shank 20 slotted at 21 to receive a spindle 17 secured to the disc 10. The disc 10 can have secured to it on one or both sides further discs 15, 16, and the spindle 17 can have a knob 18 for rotation, the ball or arrow 19 coming to rest in one of the recesses on slowing down of the disc 10. The heavy mass 19 may be common to two hollow discs 22, 23, both with recesses of different sizes. The disc 22 is loosely mounted on, whilst the disc 23 is rigid with, the spindle 17 which is supported by a stand 26. The apparatus can be used for deciding the moves of players in games as shown in Fig. 4, in which the rotary apparatus is housed between front and rear stationary panels 29, the front panel having arcuate slots 30, 31 through which divisions 32 marked on the external face of the front disc 16 can be seen to correspond with divisions 33, 34, 35 on the front panel. The front panel may also be perforated at 36 to provide additional readings dependent on the rotation of another disc 37 which may be a plain disc or may be as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The readings through the perforations 36 may be additive or subtractive of the readings of the disc 16. The disc 10 may consist of an annular ring having recesses cut on the inner edge and such recesses may be provided with lips tending to retain the mass therein. Obstacles such as pins may be provided adjacent the openings of the recesses. The disc may be geared to indicating devices for any particular game.
