Abstract

403,525. Delivering liquids from tanks. STEVENS, A. L. W., HILL, H. OSLAND-, and COLAS PRODUCTS, Ltd., Colas House, Buckingham Gate, London. Dec. 16, 1932, No. 35757. [Class 102 (ii).] In portable apparatus for discharging liquids from drums, particularly applicable for spraying roads or fruit trees, or for spraying with whitewash or disinfectant, the drum 5 is supported in a cradle 1, 2, 3, 4 and is clamped between wooden pads 13, 131 by means of a beam 18, which is adjustably pivoted at one end, while the other end is clamped by a cam 21. The cradle is pivoted on the axles 6 of the road wheels 7 and can be secured in the horizontal position by means of a pin 16, or in the vertical position by means of hooks. Ramps 12 are provided to facilitate loading a drum on to the cradle. The liquid is discharged by air which is forced into the drum by means of a pump 10 operated by a hand-wheel, the liquid being discharged through a strainer 39 to a hose 40. The air hose 35 and the discharge hose are attached to the openings 36, 37, respectively, of a fitting 15, which is provided with slots 42 for the entrance of air into the drum and with a liquid discharge passage 43. The fitting 15 is clamped on to the bung-hole by means of levers 23, which are adjustably pivoted to a link at one end and at the other end are acted on by a nut 28 on a screw 26. The pivot link of the levers 23 and the rod 26 are attached by bolts to brackets 30, which are formed with holes 32 for use with a side bung-hole and holes 32<1> for use with a top bung-hole.
