Abstract

403,274. Lubricators. BEAUDOUIN, M. J. L. P., 12, Boulevard Pereire, and BALEINE, G. D. DE, 42, Avenue Rapp, both in Paris. April 19, 1933, No. 11450. Convention date, April 25, 1932. [Class 12 (iii).] In a lubricating system having a number of feed control devices 3 supplied by a common source each of which has an air chamber 1 into which lubricant is forced during a high pressure period so that the air inside is compressed, the pressure of the air forcing lubricant to the outlet 8 of the chamber and to a delivery conduit 11 when the high pressure at the source is reduced or cut-off, a pressure control device 4 in each feed control device closes the conduit 11 when the air pressure has fallen to a predetermined value, so that the amount of lubri - cant delivered depends upon the difference between the maximum pressure of the source of lubricant and the minimum pressure permitted within the air chamber. In Fig. 3, the air chamber is formed in a tube 1 preferably of glass held in a body 3 by a member 2. The body 3 has a bore containing the pressure control device or piston 4 which is pressed on its inlet side by a spring 6 having an adjustable abutment member 7 and is constantly in communication at its outlet end with the outlet 8 by reason of a stop screw 5. Lubricant admitted at 12 passes into the bore, through an inlet 9 past the ball valve 10 and into the air chamber. The inlet pressure acts on both ends of the piston 4 so that the spring 6 maintains it against the stop 5. On releasing the inlet pressure, the air pressure forces back the piston 4, Fig. 7, so that the delivery conduit 11 is uncovered, the passage 9 being closed by the valve 10 and subsequently by the piston 4. Fig. 7 also shows a slight modification in which the stop member 5 is replaced by a member 14 which guides a rod 15 having a head 17 constantly urged towards the member 14 by a spring 16. This arrangement enables an extra supply to be delivered to any single control device by merely pushing the rod 15 inwardly.
