Abstract

401,708. Walls ; ceilings. CARPENTER, G., 22, Ditton Road, Surbiton, Surrey. April 19, 1932. No. 11122. [Class 20 (iv).] A wall, ceiling, or like plastered surface comprises a base B of pulp boards, fibre boards, or the like secured to the wall studs or floor joists A and provided on the outer face, prior to the application of the plaster or like coat R, with a plurality of perforated metal strips C extending along the joints between the base boards and covering such joints. The metal strips, which are provided with circular, or elongated perforations and may be bent curved, or corrugated to provide extra strength, are secured to the studs or joists by nails, staples, wire ties or prongs. To provide additional reinforcement, wires or perforated strips may be arranged transversely of the strips C disposed along the joints. An additional strip C<1>, Fig. 6, may be provided at the rear of the base boards and connected to the front strip C by a wire tie W, a fibre board spacer D also being provided. The Provisional Specification describes also the arrangement of the strips at an angle of 45 degrees to the joists.
