Abstract
401,251. Typewriters &c. RITZMANN, A, Eisfeld, Germany. Aug. 12, 1933, No. 22594. Convention date, March 1, 1933. [Class 100 (iv).] Index type-wheel machines for perforating paper ; hammer-impression arrangements.-A type-wheel machine for printing amounts on cheques &c. comprises an impression-plunger having a serrated or rough face for striking the cheque on the opposite side from that struck by the selected type, the imprint being thereby perforated to prevent fraudulent alteration. In the machine shown in the Figure, a typewheel 6 is revoluble on a tube 5 secured to an arm 3 which is pivoted on a rod 4 and is held in raised position by a spring. The type wheel is set and depressed by means of a knob 6d. An impression-plunger 17 having a serrated face engages a lever 18 which rests on a spring 19 and co-operates with a blade 20 pivoted on an extension of the arm 3. The impressionplunger passes through a laterally adjustable table 27 having a side gauge 28 for the cheque. On depression of the type-wheel, the selected type strikes the face of the cheque, and the lever 18, after being tripped by the blade 20, is thrown upwards by the spring 19 and causes the impression-plunger to strike the back of the cheque. On return of the type-wheel, the blade 20 yields laterally. A cheque-feeding roller 21, co-operating with pressure rollers 25a, is provided with a ratchet-wheel 22 cooperating for line-spacing with a pawl on an arm engaging a fork on the extension of the arm 3. Aligning for impression.-The hub of the type-wheel 6 has aligning-slots 6c co-operating with a dog 7 on a spring-plunger 10 provided with a release button 8. Pad inking-arrangements.-An ink pad 11c normally engaging the type-wheel 6, is carried by an arm 11 which is pivoted on the arm 3 and has a roller 11a co-operating with a stationary cam 14a to swing the ink pad rearwardly when the type-wheel is depressed for impression. The ink pad is also swung rearwardly on release of the aligning dog 7, the arm 11 having a pin engaging a pivoted arm 12 abutting on the aligning-dog.
