Abstract
400,714. Control of A.C. motors. SOUSEDIK, J., Vsetin, Czecho-Slovakia. June 14, 1932, No. 16854. [Class 38 (iii).] An induction regulator for supplying a variable voltage of fixed or adjustable phase to commutator motors for example comprises a pair of polyphase primary windings S1, S2 connected in parallel and arranged on stator cores to produce oppositely rotating fields therein and a pair of rotors on a common shaft and carrying polyphase secondary windings R3, R4 connected in series. The rotors are angularly adjusted simultaneously to produce voltage regulation from maximum positive to maximum negative without phase shift. Phase shift may be introduced, however, to compensate for the wattless component of the motors to be controlled by unequal angular displacement of the two rotors or by angular displacement of one of the stators. Auxiliary brushes 6 co-operating with projections on the rotor slip rings are provided for short-circuiting the windings R3, R4 in the neutral position in which their voltages are opposed. In one form in which the rotors are simultaneously shifted, a fixed amount of phase displacement is introduced by connecting in series with the two secondary windings a winding V1, Fig. 5, located at a predetermined angular position on one of the stators. In a further modification, Fig. 6, a similar result is obtained by connecting in series with the main rotor windings R3, R4 an auxiliary stator winding S5 energized by an auxiliary rotor winding R5 fed by and rotating with the main rotor windings. The amount of phase displacement introduced by the winding S5 may be varied by angularly adjusting the stator on which it is carried.
