[Class 12 (iii).] In a lubricator comprising a passage 15 having an inlet closed by a check valve 20, an outlet 13 for connection to a bearing or the like, and a lubricant chamber offset from the passage 15, the chamber is of telescopic form, being expanded by the injection of lubricant by means of a grease gun or the like through the inlet, and collapsed to expel lubricant as required from the outlet 13 on withdrawal of the gun. The telescopic chamber comprises a fixed chamber 11 and a hollow plunger 28 sliding in an opening 30. The plunger 28 is urged inwardly by a spring 34 abutting a packing washer 35 and a flange 33. An opening 32 in the plunger 28 is restricted by the cylindrical part of a fixed control member 36 for approximately one quarter of the stroke of the plunger. However, the narrower part of the member 36 entering the opening 32 compensates the weakening of the spring and the feed is thus kept substantially constant. The check valve 20 may be of the built-in type as in Fig. 1, or a fitting adapted to screw into the passage 15. A projection 37 on the plunger 28 limits its inward movement so that a certain amount of lubricant is always left in the device and may be utilised when the bearing runs hot. In a modification, the control member is dispensed with, the passage 13 in this case having a restricted outlet, and projections in the passage 15 limit the collapse of the plunger.
