Abstract
399,288. Resilient mountings. GRIMDITCH, W. H., Glenside, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. June 27, 1932, No. 18098. Convention date, June 26, 1931. [Class 108 (iii).] Relates to wireless receivers in which means are provided for isolating a tuning-device, such as a condenser assembly, from vibrations, particularly those set up by a loud-speaker housed in the cabinet of the receiver, and consists mainly in resiliently mounting the tuning-device on a base, which is itself resiliently supported by two or more members each comprising a pair of rubber or like spacers disposed one on each side of the base and perforated to receive a fastening member. In the arrangement shown, the shell 2 of the tuning condenser assembly is mounted on the base 1 of the receiving-set by means of supports, each of which comprises two rubber spacers 4, 5, Fig. 2, surrounding a bolt 6 which screws into the shell 2 ; the spacers are arranged on either side of the base 1. A hard sleeve 9 of fibre &c. may line the passage through the spacers, to prevent undue compression. The supports described are provided near each end of the condenser shell. and centrally between them is a brace 10, attached at one end to the base 1 and secured at the other end to the shell 2, e.g. by a screw 14 and resilient spacers 15, 16. The base 1 is itself resiliently mounted on a shelf 19 in the cabinet by a number of devices each comprising a bolt 20, Fig. 3, in combination with nuts 22, metal washers 26, and resilient spacers 23, 24, 25. The base 1 may have an inturned flange through which the bolts pass, the spacers 23, 24 being disposed on either side of the flange. Specification 340,090, [Group XXXV], is referred to.
