Abstract
398,965. Catching animals. TEESDALE, J. H., 4, Raymond Buildings, Gray's Inn, London.-(Sowerby, J. L. ; Wasa, British Columbia, Canada.) June 4, 1932, No. 15817. [Class 5 (i).] A noose trap is provided with means whereby the noose is held against slackening after having been tightened by the struggles of the animal. One end of the noose is, as usual, secured by a cord 2 to a peg fixed in the ground and the other, after passing through an eye 5, is threaded through and fastened to an eyelet 8 which passes loosely through jaws 6, 7 at the ends of a strip of springy metal forming the eye 5. The jaws are bent to form a mouthpiece 11, 12. When an animal caught in the trap exerts tension on the noose the jaws 6, 7 are forced open and the material 1 of the noose passes therebetween ; the pressure of the jaws maintains the noose in its contracted position when the tension is released. A notch may be formed in the wall of the eye 5 in which the material 1 may be bound should it snap where it is attached to the eyelet 8. A knot 13, which is too large to pass through the mouthpiece 11, 12 limits the contraction of the noose.
