398,805. Ticket-issuing machines. LANGDON, F. E., 39, East Drive, Carshalton, Surrey. March 15, 1932, No. 7696. [Class 106 (iii).] Comprises a series of coaxial rotary printin devices adapted to print and issue tickets from a series of strip magazines any one of which is selected and made active by movement of a dial plate with finger holds mounted on the outside of the machine, the number of tickets issued from each printing device being independently registered. The machine is provided with say nine printing drums 20a .. 20i which are mounted upon a common main drive shaft 26 adapted to be rotated by a handle 29. Each drum is arranged to print and issue tickets of one value from a separate roll contained in a separate magazine 5. Each drum is loose on the shaft and is adapted to be coupled thereto under the control of a rotary dial plate 63 similar to that of Specification 368,802 so that when the handle 29 is turned one drum only is operated. This is selected by moving the plate 63 which moves a grooved disc 57 and an attached sliding key 150 provided with projections 151a .. 151i each of which is adapted to drive a corresponding drum by engaging a recess 152 cut in a ring 153 fixed to the drum. The projections are so spaced that only one of the rings 153 can be engaged at one time by a projection. The remaining drums are locked against movement during rotation of the driving shaft by a sliding plate 154 which is coupled to the yoke 8 and fellows the movements of the key 150 being adapted to engage in grooves 157 in the drums. The plate is provided with recesses 158a .. 158i of such dimensions as to free one drum only in each set position of the plate. The dial plate 63 may be controlled by a spring 64a, ratchet wheel 69 and lever 67, but the pin and lever of the prior Specification are omitted so that the dial plate 63 will retain its adjusted position until the lever 67 is moved by hand to release it. Counters 123a .. 123i for the number of tickets issued by each drum and a total counter are arranged as in the prior Specification. A locking plunger 190 actuated by levers 192, 194, 195 from a cam groove disc 197 on the shaft 26 is adapted to engage one of a series of holes 191 in the disc 63 just after the shaft begins to rotate and to disengage the disc just before the completion of the rotation. Ticket strips. Each ticket roll is located in a magazine provided with a hinged cover 6 provided on the inside with a spring plate 169 which when the cover is closed bears against a curved wire arm 167 to press the roll against the back of the casing. The cover is locked by a spring- pulled pivoted bridge-piece 160 which extends across the cover and is formed with hooked extensions 163 adapted to engage studs 164 on the casing. A finger-piece 160a serves to release the cover.
