[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 18, 1932.] [Classes 5 (i) and 58.] To facilitate the removal of the straw, a straw-delivery passage is fitted to the machine described in the parent Specification, such passage being of annular cross section, formed by frusto-conical, concentric walls and adapted to lead the materials from the periphery of the thrashing or like chamber into, and towards the axis of, a chamber fitted with a blower or other straw-delivery member. The machine is provided with thrashing tools 6 and, if desired, straw-softening tools 126, which are carried by arms projecting radially from the thrashing shaft 4 ; these tools co-operate with thrashing ledges 8, 16a or with thrashing pins. The straw delivery passage is formed by a cone member 162 adjustably secured to the shaft, and a co-operating concentric member 160 secured to the outer casing. Baffle plates 166 are secured to the outer member and propelling vanes 165 to the inner member. A detachable conical flange 164 is fitted at the wide end of the passage, this flange being adapted to be exchanged to vary the size of the annular entrance ; the wide end of the flange may be turned towards or away from the entrance. The annular passage leads into a straw-delivery chamber fitted with a blower 45. Air passing through an adjustable inlet may be led from below the grain sieve 13 into the annular passage. The bottom of the member 160 may be corrugated longitudinally or transversely and formed with corn-delivery apertures, the rear edges of which are raised to catch the grain. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also modifications of the machine of the parent Specification in which the top portion of the casing is bent inwards to present a convex impact surface to the thrashing members ; the beating members are alternately inclined to give a conveying action to the material and set at right-angles or even inclined in the other direction ; the fixed pins co-operating with the beating members may be replaced by plates and extra rows fitted ; the blower chamber is provided with an adjustable opening in the centre of its rear wall to control the current of air ; an adjustable discharge outlet for air is provided in the chamber for the treatment of the straw after thrashing, and similar air discharge arrangements may be fitted in the thrashing and reducing chambers ; a grain-dressing apparatus is fitted at the rear end of the machine and is provided with a blower hinged thereto for convenience in obtaining access to the sieve and in order to shorten the machine for transport ; the waste air from the dressing apparatus is led into a chaffblower or the straw-blower ; foreign matter is removed by passing the grain into a rotary conical or inclined cylindrical drum provided internally with lifting members and through which an air blast passes; adjustable throttling plates may be arranged under the sieves of the dressing device. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
