Abstract
396,182. Electric signalling systems. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. May 5, 1932, No. 12927. Convention date, May 11, 1931. [Class 40 (i).] Measurements, especially on electricity meters, are made at a distance by impulses produced on variation of the capacity of a condenser, the rotor of the condenser being actuated by the meter rotor and having no external electrical connections. An electricity meter is geared to the movable plates 12, 13 of a condenser, the fixed plates 8 .. 11 being connected to an amplifier 3 fed with alternating- current and supplying the distant coil 4. The amplified current energizes a relay coil 20 in series with the coil 4 so that a cyclic operation of the condenser occurs. The movable plates of the condenser may have jewelled bearings, and the number of measurement impulses per revolution may be varied. The connections may be such that in one position of the condenser plates the amplified output current is interrupted, the contact 17 of the relay being then returned by spring tension. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement wherein the input and output of the amplifier are actuated by motor switching mechanism, 'the output 19 energizing a relay coil 21 which trips a pawl 35 making contacts 34, 36 to the motor circuit 26. The changeover device comprises a contact 'section 37 co-operating alternately with spring contacts 39, 40, the measurement impulse being transmitted through a contact 43 connecting the distant coil 4. Specification 342,681 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an arrangement, Fig. 5 (cancelled), in which the coupling takes place between coils 50, 51, coil 51 being connected through capacity couplings 56, 57 to a high frequency source and being rotated by the meter gearing. Inductive currents which may be amplified are supplied to a relay 21 which may actuate a motor switching mechanism. The coils 50, 51 may be located in the grid and anode circuits of a thermionic oscillator. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
