[Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A wall or ceiling is formed of slabs S attached by a cementing medium to perforated or expanded metal strip bonding members a which are attached to, or anchored in, the studs or joists. The bonding members, which may be flat or corrugated, are backed by strips b of flat or corrugated paper, felt, sheet metal, &c. The cementing medium may be cement, plaster, bitumen, glue, &c. The bonding members are secured by nails, staples, or screws to wood joists or studs, and are anchored in concrete studs or joists so as to form part or whole of the reinforcement for the same. The slabs may be secured to both faces of the studs, as shown in Fig. 1, and the cavity may be packed with sound-deadening or insulating materials. A further series of slabs may be arranged between the outer and inner slabs S shown in Fig. 1 and secured to the studs by bonding members projecting from the side faces thereof. The slabs S may be arranged as shown in Fig. 2 with a layer of plaster P on both sides. The corner studs f, Fig. 4, are grooved to accommodate the slabs S and plaster P. The studs and slabs may be assembled as shown in Fig. 5 to form units prior to erection, adjacent units being connected by cementing the slabs of one unit to the bonding members of the studs of adjacent units. In a further 'modification, the studs y are cast integral with panels m, Fig. 6, and are provided with bonding members a projecting therefrom for attaching slabs S. Concrete is cast in the spaces between adjacent studs j. Cleats, nailing blocks d, and clips e may be provided in the studs as shown in Fig. 1 for bracing purposes, for securing window and door frames, and for providing additional support for the slabs.
