Abstract
394,302. Shaping-machines. ATELIERS G. S. P., Albert, Somme, France. Sept. 15, 1931, No. 25858. Convention date, Aug. 4. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 83 (iii).] In a shaping-machine or similar machine tool the crank-plate 1 which oscillates the link 2 connected to the ram 3 is driven by worm gearing 6 operated through a change-speed gearbox 9 from an electric motor 10. The crankplate has a hollow hub 5 mounted in ball bearings 11 within an oil-containing casing 12. The adjustable crank pin 14 is carried on a dovetail guide member 15 carrying a rack 16 engaged by a pinion 18 on a sleeve 19 mounted within the hollow hub. The outer end of the sleeve carries an adjusting hand-wheel 22. A rod 23 flanged at 25 to bear against the sleeve and hand-wheel is screwed at its forward end in a nut 24 fitting in a slide groove 28 in the dovetail guide so that by turning the squared end 29 of the rod, the guide 15 may be securely locked in position. When the nut is unlocked the crank radius is adjusted from the handwheel 22. In order to indicate this adjustment, the hand-wheel is recessed to receive a graduated toothed rim 30 which is retained bv a plate 31, and a long pinion 33 mounted in a bore of the hand-wheel engages both the rim 30 and also fixed teeth 34 so that as the hand-wheel is rotated the rim 30 rotates relatively to its retaining-plate 31 to indicate the setting of the crank-pin. The periphery 35 of the crank-plate lies in a surface of revolution having an inclined axis and is engaged by a roller 38, Fig. 3, on an arm which actuates a spindle 36 geared to the table feed screw 42. The roller 38 may be moved axially along the surface 35 to vary the feed which is zero when the roller is in the plane P and a maximum when it is in plane P<1>. The feed may also be actuated from a hand-wheel 40. The table 41 rests at 46 on its slideway and has an inclined lower guide portion with a gib adjustment at 47. A coverplate 48 of inverted U -form protects the upper sliding joint between the table and the frame and assists in guiding the table.
