[Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv).] Components of girders, trusses, and the like, comprise elements formed from thin metal sheets having approximately equally spaced parallel-walled or undercut grooves facing alternately in opposite directions and so placed relatively to one another that the mouths of the grooves in the elements are disposed opposite to each other. The elements A<2> may lie with the grooves opposite through out their whole length, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, or alternatively they may be separated at intervals to receive other elements C, as shown in Figs. 9 and 10. Where more than one cross member K is used, spacer elements H, Figs. 15 and 16, may be disposed between these members at points remote from the cross connection. The ends of the elements are interfitted for connection lengthwise.
