392,832. Glass manufacture. SOC. ANON. D'ETUDES ET DE CONSTRUCTIONS D'APPAREILS M•CANIQUES POUR LA VERRERIE, 3, Rue de Castellane, Paris. Oct. 29, 1932, No. 30400. Convention date, May 23. [Class 56.] A rotating pot or hearth 1, used in conjunction with a tank furnace 2 for supplying glass to a suction-gathering machine, is provided with a flue 7 having its upper edge p situated at the desired level of the glass in the pot. The glass flows from the tank into the pot in a stream 3 which is regulated by an adjustable gate 5. If the amount of glass flowing into the pot exceeds that withdrawn by the machine, the excess overflows into the flue 7 and the surface of the glass at the gathering point is kept at a constant level. A chamber 11, arranged below the pot, is heated by burners 12 and prevents loss of heat from the bottom of the pot. The hot gases escape through the flue 7 and assist in maintaining the temperature of the glass. The construction enables the pot to be made of relatively small diameter.
