Abstract

The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the production of films or filaments from solutions containing a soluble polymerized vinyl compound, a plasticizer, and a wax. Polymerized vinyl chloride, or a polymerized mixture of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, or a mixture of these polymerized products may be used in conjunction with plasticizers such as diethoxyethyl-, diamyl-, or dibutyl-phthalate, and a small proportion of a wax such as ozokerite, paraffin, spermaceti, ceresin, candelilla wax, beeswax, palm wax, or a synthetic wax. A mixture of ethyl acetate, butyl acetate and toluene is a suitable solvent. The solutions may also contain higher fatty acids such as oleic acid, or their compounds such as butyl oleate, gums or resins, condensation products of fatty acids with phthalic anhydride, condensation products of glycerol, glycol, or diethylene glycol with oleic acid and phthalic anhydride or its homologues, nitrocellulose in small amounts, pigments, &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:A lacquer for flexible materials consists of a soluble polymerized vinyl compound, a plasticizer, a wax, and a solvent. Polymerized vinyl chloride, or a polymerized mixture of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, or a mixture of these polymerized products may be used, in conjunction with a plasticizer such as diethoxyethyl-, diamyl-, or dibutyl-phthalate, and a small proportion of a wax such as ozokerite, paraffin, spermaceti, ceresin, candelilla wax, bees-wax, palm wax, or a synthetic wax. A mixture of ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, and toluene is a suitable solvent. The composition may also contain higher fatty acids such as oleic acid, or their compounds, e.g. butyl oleate, gums or resins, condensation products of fatty acids with phthalic anhydride, condensation products of glycerol, glycol, or diethylene glycol with oleic acid and phthalic anhydride or its homologues, nitro-cellulose in small amounts, pigments, &c.ALSO:Compositions adapted to be dissolved in a solvent to form lacquers, consist of a soluble polymerized vinyl compound, a plasticizer, and a wax. Polymerized vinyl chloride, or a polymerized mixture of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, or a mixture of these polymerized products may be used, in conjunction with a plasticizer such as diethoxyethyl-, diamyl-, or dibutyl-phthalate, and a wax such as ozokerite, paraffin, spermaceti, ceresin, candelilla wax, beeswax, palm wax, or a synthetic wax.
