Abstract
388,883. Coating with metals ; cleaning metals. THOMAS, H. S., Melingriffith Works, and DAVIES, W. R., St. Petroc, Park Road, both in Whitchurch, Glamorgan. Dec. 8, 1931, No. 33967. [Class 82 (ii).] In apparatus employed in the manufacture of tin or other metal coated plates or sheets in which one unit of the plant delivers two or more plates or sheets simultaneously and abreast, two or more conveyers are arranged so that the plates or sheets delivered abreast are fed singly and in succession to the succeeding unit, one of the conveyers transferring the plates or sheets delivered to it direct to the succeeding unit. In the form shown two plates X, X<1> are delivered simultaneously and abreast from the rolls C<1> of the grease pot C. The plate X passes down guides 11 on to an endless conveyer comprising a plurality of belts 3 passing round pulleys 4 and rollers 5 on shafts 6, 7 respectively and is transferred directly to feed rolls A<1> of a branning machine A. The plate X<1> is received by an endless conveyer mounted above and inclined with respect to the conveyer 3, the conveyer comprising a plurality of belts 13 passing round pulleys 12 on the shaft 6 and round inclined guide pulleys 14, 15. The delivery end of the conveyer 13 is positioned above the conveyer 3 and the conveyers are driven so that the plate X<1> falls on to the conveyer 3 after the plate X has passed to the rolls A<1>. The belts 3, 13 of the conveyers are kept taut by pulleys 9, 16 respectively, the former being carried by a weighted lever 10. More than one inclined conveyer may be provided if more than two plates are delivered simultaneously from the grease pot C, and in the form described the arrangement is duplicated, two cleaning machines being provided.
