Abstract
388,265. Relay devices. SOC. ANON. DE CONSTRUCTION DE MATERIEL AUTOMOBILE S. A. C. M. A., 14, Rue Raynouard, Paris. May 25, 1932, No. 14842. Convention date, Jan. 8. [Class 118 (ii).] Comprises a null or zeroindicating device for apparatus of the kind described in Specifications 326,674, [Class 106 (ii), Dynamometers &c.], 341,365, 348,860, and 367,700, [all in Group XIX], for measuring the size of an orifice by the loss of pressure to which a fluid traversing two orifices in series is subjected, the second orifice being that to be measured. In the form shown in the Figure two chambers 1a, 1b have the first orifices connected in series to the pipe 6 and a second orifice 3b is to be compared with a standard variable orifice 3a the size of which can be adjusted-by hand or automatically by moving a conical needle valve 50 in and out of the orifice. When the heights of liquid in the limbs of the manometer move one way or other from a datum level the circuit of a motor 45 is completed and this operates the needle 50 through gear 46, 47 and a screw to restore the level in the manometer. A worm 51 turns a graduated disc past a pointer 53 to indicate the movement of the needle valve 50. A hinged strip or rotating wedge may be substituted for the needle to vary the orifice.
