Abstract
388,053. Keyboards. BURROUGHS ADDING MACHINE CO., 2nd Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Doughty, A. J. ; c/o Burroughs Adding Machine Co. ; 2nd Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Aug. 17, 1931, No. 23144. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1930. [Class 106 (i).] To prevent liquid from entering a calculating- machine &c. through the keyboard the slots in the top plate through which the key stems pass are surrounded by sleeves telescoping into the heads of the keys. As shown in the Figure, a superposed plate 30 has perforations at each key position, the edges of the perforations being undercut to hold the flanges of short sleeves 32 extending upwardly into the slotted heads of the keys. Alternatively the sleeves may be integral with the plate 30. The stems of the keys are slotted to co-operate with the usual detents and are notched at their lower ends to take over a returning coil spring 25.
