Abstract

387,247. Swimming-appliances. HODGE, A. E., 14, Astonville Street, Southfields, London. July 30, 1932, No. 21528. [Class 77.] A propelling device, which is strapped to the foot for use in swimming, consists of a frame composed of five ribs f, four of which have three joints g, g, h, and one of which has two joints g, h, the joints having overlapping rib portions which limit the movement of the frame in one direction, whilst allowing free movement in the opposite direction, the whole frame being covered with oilskin, with concave edges between the ribs. The portion which is strapped to the foot is of light non-corrosive metal covered above with stout cork. The ribs are semicircular in transverse section. Dimensions are given. Specifications 13278/93 and 917/08, [both in Class 77, Life-saving &c.], are referred to.
