Abstract

387,070. Hot-blast stoves. SOC. ANON. D'OUGR•E-MARIHAYE, OugrÚe, Belgium. Nov. 23, 1931, No. 32472. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1930. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] A filling for Cowper stoves comprises superposed layers of bricks of elongated hexagonal form each having a number of ducts, at least two of the ducts having an annular seating 12 at one end and an annular projection 12a at the other end so that a brick in one layer interlocks with two or more bricks in the adjacent layers, the bricks having peripheral recesses 12d which with the adjoining bricks form further ducts. The checkerwork 6a so formed is surmounted by bricks 6 each having a single duct and the two parts of the checkerwork are connected by bricks each having a conical hole. A supporting grating 9 rests upon beams 9a formed with recesses so as not to cover the holes in the grating, and supported un columns 14. The cupola 5a is provided with a jacket 5b to which air is supplied at 10, the heated air being withdrawn by a fan 11a and supplied to a nozzle 2a in which gas supplied at 2 is burnt. The main supply of air is injected under pressure through a duct 3.
