Abstract

385,767. Glass manufacture. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.- (Europaischer Verband der Flaschenfabriken Ges. ; 20, Breitestrasse, Dusseldorf, Germany.) Feb. 1, 1932, No. 3021. [Class 56.] In a glass-blowing machine with two mould tables, revolving in the same or opposite directions about vertical axes and carrying the blank moulds and finishing moulds respectively, and wherein the neck moulds serving to transfer the parisons from the blank to the finishing moulds are moved into the path of the latter and travel therein during the transfer, the neck moulds carrying the parisons are rocked at the transfer station away from the blank moulds and into the path of the finishing moulds by transfer arms, and are displaced along the transfer arms with the finishing moulds by mechanism connected with the latter. Each transfer mechanism comprises a transfer arm 60 supporting a neck mould 43 and adapted to swing about the axis of a rock shaft 61, which is oscillated by means of rack- and-pinion mechanism 62, 63 actuated by a cam roll 65 riding over a cam 41. The shaft 61 is keyed to a rotary sleeve 69, Fig. 3, connected through an arm 71 to the dip frame 45, so that vertical movement of the latter produces a corresponding movement of the neck mould. Each neck mould is mounted on a slide 75, free to move along the arm 60 and limited in its outer movement by an adjustable stop 78, so that the neck mould, during the gathering of a charge, may register with the blank mould 42 and, during the transfer operation, may register with the finishing mould 127 and travel in the arc of movement of the latter. A pair of arms 160, actuated by cam-and-slide mechanism 162..165, is carried by each finishing mould and is adapted to grip the neck mould and centre it during transfer. Immediately after a finishing mould is closed about the parison, the neck mould 43 is opened, through slide mechanism 82, by engagement of the cam roll 84 with a cam 86, Fig. 1. The arm 60 then returns, owing to the shaping of the cam 41, to its inner position in register with a parison mould 42. Air and vacuum passages extend along the arm 60 and are adapted at suitable times to be connected to passages 120, 105 for supplying air to the chamber 92<a>, causing projection of the plunger 89 into the neck mould, and for gathering charges by suction. Each mould 127 is connected through links 129 to a cam-operated slide 130, and a blow head 135, carried by a swinging arm 136, is arranged to be placed over the mould when transfer is completed.
