[Class 100 (ii).] In a machine for printing postal franks or the like, in which the adjustment of the printing-elements according to the value of the frank to be printed sets also a series of teeth for actuating proportionately a counting-device, the mechanism for adjusting the printing- elements is directly connected to that for setting the teeth. The printing-elements 25, 26 are slidable in radial slots in discs 23, 24 secured to nested tubes 5, 6 rotatable on the main driving-shaft 3. The elements 25, 26 are provided with pins 28 projecting into cam slots in discs 30, 31, the shape of the slots being such that the desired element is projected into printing position through apertures in a stereotype plate 34 secured to discs 32, 33, the former of which is secured to the shaft 3. The discs 30, 31 are formed with projections engaging opposite edges of the stereotype 34 so that they are held against rotation relatively to the shaft 3. The opposite ends of the sleeves 5, 6 carry setting-discs 7, 8 provided with handles 19, 20 extending outside the casing of the machine. The discs are formed with cam slots in which engage pins 14 secured to teeth 11, 12 displaceable in radial slots in discs 9, 10. The discs 9, 10 are held against rotation on the shaft 3 by members 18 secured thereto and to discs 16, 17, the former of which is fixed to the shaft. Adjustment of either of the discs 7, 8 results in the setting of the corresponding number of teeth 11, 12 and the corresponding printing-elements 25, 26. The discs 7, 8 and discs 9, 10 are held in their relative adjusted positions by spring-pressed balls engaging one of a series of depressions. The shaft 3 also carries a drum 49 carrying stereotypes 50 for printing advertising matter or the like, the drum being mounted in eccentrically arranged grooves in the discs 17, 33 and being adjustable from outside the casing to enable any of the plates to be brought to printing position. Starting and stopping arrangements.-On rotation of the shaft 3, the teeth 11, 12 actuate counters 40, one of which may be connected to a control device 41. The matter to be printed is fed into an aperture 42 at one side of the casing, over a resiliently-mounted platform 44 and under a pivotally-mounted arm 47 which releases a lock to permit a single rotation of the shaft 3, to rollers 45, 46 which pass it between the printing-elements and an impreseion roller 38 to a discharge aperture 48.
