Abstract

383,981. Valve generating circuits. WIRED RADIO, Inc., 60, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Dow, J. B. ; 37, Oakridge Boulevard, Oakcrest, Alexandria, Virginia, U.S.A.) July 24, 1931, No. 21242. Convention date, April 22. [Class 40 (v).] The frequency of a valve oscillator is kept constant, despite changes in anode voltage, by providing an auxiliary anode and applying to it a voltage proportional to that of the main anode, whereby any frequency change due to alteration of anode voltage is counterbalanced by a frequency change of equal amount but of opposite sense due to alteration of the auxiliary anode voltage. In the example shown, the tuned circuit 5 is kept in oscillation by connecting its opposite sides to the grid 2 and the anode 3, the intermediate plate of the double condenser 6 being connected to the cathode. The voltages of the anode 3 and the auxiliary anode 4 are derived from tappings on potentiometer 13 through resistances 14, 15. The auxiliary anode is connected to the control grid 2 by a variable condenser 10. The tappings 18, 19 are adjusted by experiment to positions in which an alteration of the supply voltage 12 does not affect the frequency.
