Abstract

383,062. Manufacture of rubber sheet. MILNE, J. L., 206, Winchester House, Old Broad Street, London.-(Huttenbach, Lazarus & Sons, Ltd.; 21, Beach Street, Penang, Straits Settlements.) Nov. 13, 1931, No. 31507. [Class 70.] In a rubber sheeting machine comprising a series of pairs of pressing rolls all the rolls rotate with the same angular velocity but the diameters of successive pairs are varied to compensate for slip and for elongation of the strip of coagulum. The Figure shows five pairs of pressing rolls a.. e followed by marking rolls f. The rolls a .. e are of progressively increasing diameters so that the surface speed of e is 26 per cent greater than that of a. The marking rolls f have a surface speed only 5 per cent greater than a, as no slip occurs and compensation is only required for elongation.
