Abstract
383,057. Distributing music. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd.. Magnet House, Kingsway, London, CLARK, F. and CHUBB, A. A., of General Electric Co., Stoke, Coventry. Nov. 10, 1931, No. 31125. [Class 40 (iv).] In a system for the distribution of radio programmes &c. the amplifiers at the subsidiary distributing stations are controlled and supervised over the speech wires from the main station. As shown, the operation of the selflocking key 9 at the main station energizes relay G at the subsidiary station to switch on the mains 23. When both amplifying valves are operative the plate relays E, D short-circuit resistance 26 to operate the marginal indicator 6 at the main station. Failure of the amplifier or the eliminator reinserts the resistance. If a mercury vapour rectifier is used a circuit is employed as described in Specification 382,434, [Group XL], to delay the application of the full load to the rectifier and an additional contact controlled by the delay relay is included in the tell-tale circuit. The amplifiers may be controlled by clock-operated contacts in series with the battery 10 which is common to the controlling circuits of all the subsidiary stations. If both line wires break, the amplifier is switched off and the indicator falls. If either line breaks or develops a ground fault, the differential relays A, B are operated. The former shunts out the indicator and the latter shunts out G to switch off the amplifier. If both lines are grounded G is in effect shortcircuited. The transformer windings have resistances at least comparable with those of relays A, B or they are divided and connected together through a condenser.
