382,232. Casting composite articles. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES., Untert³rk. heim, Stuttgart, Germany. May 6, 1932, No. 13167. Convention date, May 6, 1931. [Class 83 (i).] Casting machines; moulds ; cores ; castings, extracting.-A die-casting machine for lining bearings has a piston 4, for forcing the metal into the mould, and a cam 12, for clamping the mould parts, operated by a hand- or power-operated lever 9. The lever, when moved to the left, rotates the cam 12 thus moving down bars 15 to close and clamp the mould 7 to a nozzle 6 and then moves the piston 4 to close a metal inlet 5 and apply pressure to the metal in a chamber 3 so that mould is filled. When lining a bearing 24, Fig. 8, this is placed about a core 27 carried by the middle-mould part 19 and between the lower mould-part 18 and a semicircular support 23 carried by the upper mouldpart 20. The bearing is centred by ribs 25, 26. In the raised position the mould - parts are spaced apart by means of springs 29, 30, Fig. 5, and headed pins 32, 34. When the plate 20 is moved down by the bars 15 the springs are compressed, the bearing clamped and the plate 18 is pressed against the nozzle 6. When the reverse movement occurs ejectors 38 are operated by levers engaging fixed cams. The plate 18 has passages 44 and the core 27 passages 43 for cooling fluid..
