Abstract

380,257. Money boxes. DARLING, A. L., New Club, Loveday Street, Johannesburg, South Africa. Sept. 21, 1931, No. 26375. [Class 18.] A money box comprises a body of glass or other rigid transparent material with a plurality of coin chambers, each of which is near the peripheral surface of the box so that the coins it contains are visible. As shown, the box comprises a cylindrical glass structure with cylindrical coin chambers 3, the axes of these chambers being parallel to the axis of the box. The ends of the box are of glass and may be cast integral with the body portion, or both or one of them may be separately formed and afterwards fused to the body. Insertion slots 7 are formed at the upper end of the coin chambers and spaced at half the thickness of a coin from the tops of the chambers in order to make it difficult to remove coins. Each chamber is marked on the outside of the box with the denomination of the coins it contains and with a scale so that the amount of coins therein can be read off. Preferably the construction is such that the box must be broken to gain access to the coins.
