[Class 40 (ii).] Picture and sound films or combinations thereof are provided during production with markings at the ends, and if desired intermediately, to facilitate joining up consecutive films for printing or reproduction in correct relation, and in the case of combined films in correct synchronous relation. Each soundrecording apparatus or camera or combination thereof in a set is provided with marking means which are actuated simultaneously so that a similar mark is made at the end of one film and the commencement of the next. As shown applied to a combination of sound-recording devices 1, Fig. 1, and cameras 2, 3 the marking is effected photographically on the edge of the film outside the perforations by light beams from lamps 15, Fig. 2, arranged in housings 10 and energized from a common circuit 11 with switch 13. Long shot and close-up pictures on different films can thereby be correctly assembled in relation to an associated sound record. The marking devices are positioned along the film in relation to the exposure apertures so that correct spacing between the sound and picture heads in combined sound and picture-reproducing apparatus is provided for. Fig. 5 shows a positive print of associated sound and picture negatives produced separately but simultaneously and provided with markings 24<1>, 30 on the sound record and markings 25<1>, 28<1>, on the picture record to facilitate correct association in assembly end to end.
