Abstract

376,979. Weighing-apparatus fitted to packeting machines. POPOV, V. D., 743, Zelena U1, Bubenec, Prague. Aug. 13, 1931, No. 22908. Convention date; Aug. 23, 1930. [Class 143.] The apparatus conveys a portion of material from an automatic weighing or like machine to apparatus where further operations, for example packeting, take place. The material falls from the weighing &c. machine through a hopper 11 at position P1 and is released into a filling nozzle 13 at position P2. A number of containers 7, 7a .. 7k are arranged on a continuously rotating friction rim 1, so that the movement of the container can be stopped without affecting the rotation of the rim. At the moment of filling, the container 7 is held against motion by a stop 9, and a number of containers 7a, 7b, 7c accumulate behind to form a reserve. As soon as the material has fallen into the container, the stop 9 is moved manually or automatically' by the action of the weighing machine into the position shown in broken lines, long enough to allow one container to pass. The reserve of containers then closes up and the foremost is in position for the next filling operation. The filled container travels in a clockwise direction, Fig. 1, and takes its place behind a reserve of filled containers 7f .. 7k which has accumulated at the station P2 at which the material is to be delivered into the hopper 13 forming part of a packeting mechanism. At the packeting station, the hinged base 14e of the container is released by the operation of a stop 16 on a catch 15e, and is subsequently closed again by a rail 18, a stop 20 turning the catch back into the closed position. The containers are released from the delivery position by a stop 17 similar to the stop 9. If the output of the weighing and filling mechanism is approximately the same, the reserves of empty and filled containers will ensure continuity of working. If, however, the output of one mechanism is less, the reserve of containers of the faster working mechanism tends to become exhausted, and means are provided to stop the mechanism if the reserve falls below a predetermined minimum number. Control members 21, 22 comprise feeler levers adapted to contact with stops 10, 10a, 10b, 10c on the containers. As long as there are, in the example shown, two stops 10, 10a in contact with the lever, it is held in the position shown in full lines, and points 26, 27 are maintained in contact to close a circuit B which maintains the working of the weighing apparatus. If, however, all the containers in the position P1 are used up, a spring 28 pulls the lever 21 into the position shown in broken lines, the circuit B is broken and a circuit A is closed to actuate a stop motion and prevent any further weighing until the reserve of containers is restored. A similar arrangement controls the delivery of 'the material. The positions of the controlling members are adjustable. The rim may be replaced by an endless band.
