Abstract

376,803. Photographic cameras and projectors. COLLINGS, C. E. HILLERY-, 9N, Camberwell Green Estate, London. March 16, 1931, Nos. 8016 and 16524. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i).] In photographic cameras and projectors, particularly kinematographic cameras convertible to projectors, having a fixed lens and a movable film gate, means is provided to adjust the gate relatively to the lens to vary the focal length and separate means is provided to return the gate to the position of minimum focal length. As shown, the outer casing 11, Fig. 8, of the camera, provided with a fixed lens, is combined with an inner casing 12 pivoted on pins 62<1> remote from the film gate. A bracket 56 on the casing 12 carries an adjustable stop screw 58 adapted to determine the position of minimum focal length, and is also furnished with a half-nut portion adapted to be engaged by an adjusting screw 54 carried by a bracket 53 eccentrically mounted in lugs 50 of the view-finder 48. When the finder 48 is raised, the bracket 53 is lowered and the screw 54 is disengaged, whereupon a spring 60, associated with the screw 58 and engaging a flange 61 on the bracket 53, moves the casing 12 and the gate to a position of minimum focus. Upon lowering the finder, the bracket 53 is raised to bring the screw 54 into operative position and at the same time a milled head 55 on the screw 54 is caused to project through a slot in the top of the casing 11. The film gate is carried by the partition 63, Figs. 3 and 4, secured to the casing 12. The gate 66 is furnished with a lug 68 engaging a slot 70 in a depressed portion 71 and with a tail-piece 72 terminating in a notched end 73 embracing an eccentric pin on one of the pivot screws 62<1> which is provided with an external finger-piece for adjusting the gate. A spring gate 80 is connected to the base 83 which is hinged to the partition by lugs &c. 84 and is pressed upon by a spring hook 82. The film is passed under a hook 79 on a curved guide 78 and behind the gate 66 against which it is held by the spring gate 80. A slot 81 in the gate 80 provides passage for the feed claw which is actuated by mechanism passing through a slot 87. The rear part of the casing, containing the spool box is hinged to the part 11 by a pin passing through hinge jaws 88, Fig, 8, the parts being held together by a spring clip 89.
