Variegations in plastic masses are obtained by introducing into the mass before it has attained its final state a flexible material which does not flow out into the plastic mass. The flexible material may be paper containing gelatin which has been brought into an insoluble state as by means of formaldehyde. The plastic mass may be the substance known under the Trade Mark "Bakelite."
