Abstract
371,378. Tobacco pipes. BROWN, S., Carteret Place, Garden City, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 17, 1930, No. 31128. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1929. [Class 130.] In a pipe comprising a removable stem 2 which forms part of the wall of the tobacco-containing chamber 3 in the bowl 1, an opening 11 in the base of the bowl is sealed from the chamber 3 by the stem. In one form, Fig. 1, the stem 2, which is hollowed out at 8 to form part of the tobacco chamber, is inserted in a bore 5, 6 extending through both walls of the bowl and serves as a stopper for the part 6 of the bore. In a modification, Fig. 4, an inclined stem 2 extends into and forms a stopper for the opening 11 in the base. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also (1) a construction similar to that shown in Fig. 1 but without the opening 11 in the base of the bowl ; and (2) the form shown in Fig. 9 (Cancelled), in which the stem 2 fits a single opening 5 in the wall of the bowl. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
