Abstract

370,535. Non-return valves. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, and WILLSHAW, H., of Dunlop Rubber Co., Fort Dunlop, Erding- ton, Birmingham. Jan. 23, 1931, No. 2315. [Class 135.] Tennis and like balls a are packed under pressure in a container 1 having an inflation orifice E adapted to be closed by an imperforate flexible rubber flap 6 which is forced away from the aperture during the inflation and is then forced against it by the internal pressure to close the container. The flap may comprise a main portion 7, Fig. 2, with radial extensions 8 passing through slots in a raised ring 9, and the closing action may be assisted by adhesive. In another form, Fig. 4, the closing action of the pressure is supplemented by that of a spring 13. The flap may be formed of integral layers of rubber of varying hardness, or may cover the whole of the base of the container.
