Abstract

<PICT:0369791/III/1> <PICT:0369791/III/2> In furnaces for heating or cracking oil comprising tubular parallel channels connected in series, the channels are arranged so that access of heating medium to the surfaces between the parallel portions is prevented and only the sides are in contact with the heating medium. The tubes may be flattened and arranged as shown in Fig. 2, or alternatively, refractory material D, Fig. 3, may be spaced between the parallel surfaces.
