Abstract

368,959. Pasteurizing beer &c. SETON, G. R., 37, Walbrook, London. Feb. 24, 1931, No. 5786. [Class 49.] Apparatus for pasteurizing beer and other liquids in bottles comprises a water tank a having a tower superstructure b the lower open end of which depends into the water in the tank a, the tower being kept filled with water which is heated to pasteurizing temperature by steam coils o, by maintaining a vacuum therein. The bottles e are inserted in carriers d supported in rows between a pair of endless chains c which carry them down into the tank a, up through the tower b where their contents are pasteurized and down through the tank where they are cooled and finally delivered by gravity on to a table g and convever h for removal. The tower b may be made in T-form b<1> to enable its height to be reduced or the path of the bottles therein to be increased. A cooling medium may be circulated through a pipe z in tank a. The treated bottles e slide from the carriers d down an inclined plate q on to table g. The plate q is carried by levers r attached to a shaft s and is intermittently oscillated, to transfer the bottles from table g to the conveyer h, by arms x attached to levers r and each carrying a roller w bearing on a rotating eccentric v.
