Abstract

368,848. Coin-freed article delivery apparatus. F. S. (AUTOMATICS), Ltd., 69, Long Acre, COSTA, R. DA, 603, Finchley Road, PETZAN, W. G., 20, Tulsemere Road, all in London, and PAILLARD, E., Ste- Croix, Switzerland. Dec. 12, 1930, No. 37597. [Class 27.] Articles stored in piles ; coin action, mechanical-connection.-The bottom article of a pile 34, Fig. 2, is delivered by pulling out a drawer 33, after the insertion of a coin in a slot 26, the coin dropping down a shoot 28 and through a slot 32 in the drawer to rest between the edges of plates 42, Fig. 5, carried by pairs of blocks 40, 41, which are secured to the underside of a base 36 over which the drawer slides. A tongue 56 depending from the rear of the drawer moves the coin in a direction normal to its plane and causes it to turn on their pivots a pair of spring-controlled detents 47 pivoted to the blocks 40. Each detent carries a pin 50 extending through a slot 51 in the base 36 into a slot 52 in the drawer. Each slot 52 has two teeth or projections 54, 55, the pins 50 normally engaging with the teeth 54 to prevent the drawer from being opened. When the detents 47 are rotated by the coin, the drawer can be pulled out. The provision of two teeth 54, 55 prevents fraudulent actuation. When the drawer is pulled out, the upper end 68 of a spring 66 is free to move into the shoot 28 and prevent a second coin from passing down and jamming the mechanism. Testing coins.-Small coins are not arrested by the plates 42 and light coins are deflected by a weighted lever 31 to a space at the back of the machine casing, whence they are returned through an opening at the bottom of the machine. Magnetic discs are retained by the poles 30 of a magnet and are cleared by a plate 70 of non-magnetic material, such as brass, this plate being suspended by links 72, Fig. 9 (not shown) from the casing and moved against the action of a spring 74 by a crank 76 which is operated through linkage by a cam 81 on the drawer. The bottom of the plate 70 has an inclined portion 82 to deflect the detached discs to the space at the back of the casing. Registering ; " empty " notices, displaying; coin-slit closing devices.-A following weight 83 on the pile of articles has a tape 84 passing over a pulley 85 and connected to a counterbalance weight 86. The tape has numerals thereon corresponding to the number of articles in the machine and showing through an aperture 87, Fig. 11, in the side of the machine casing. A finger 94 on the weight 83 tilts a lever 90, when the last article is delivered, to show through an aperture the word " Empty " instead of the word " Full " which are stamped on the lever. The lever 90 is connected to a rod 93 which is raised to close the coin-slit, when the lever 90 is tilted by the finger 94. Casings fitting and securing to walls &c.- The front wall 21 of the casing 20 of the machine is fitted with two mirrors and is hinged at the bottom 22. It has a lock 25 at the top. The casing is automatically locked to a back-plate 96 by a pair of slides 100 which are moved in opposite directions by a lever to pass through eyes 97 extending from the plate 96 through slots in the back of the casing. When the front plate 21 is closed, it engages the lever and moves the slides through the eyes.
