Abstract
368,689. Recording sound. JELINEK, S., 43, Alserstrasse, Vienna. Sept. 4, 1930, No. 26360. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 40 (ii).] A series of sounds recorded at different times and in different places is combined into a single sound record so that the sounds may be simultaneously reproduced. The actions relating to these separate sounds may also be photographed and combined, in known manner, so that a single complete talking-picture film is produced. According to the invention, the sounds originally recorded are converted into the corresponding current variations which are caused to influence the galvanometer of the studio sound-recording apparatus which is also effected by the sounds produced by the actors &c. during the enactment of the scene in the studio. Thus a sound record is produced which contains, in their appropriate blending, the series of sounds which were originally recorded separately. The action in the studio is also superposed on the scene previously photographed so that a combined talking-picture film is produced which when reproduced conveys the impression that the whole of the sounds and action were simultaneously recorded. The relative strengths of the various series of sounds united in the final sound record may be varied at will. In an alternative method, the separate sound records are mechanically united in their correct relationship and run through the soundreproducing apparatus simultaneously so that the reproducing photo-electric cell is influenced by the light passing through each of the record tracks. The invention may be applied to the recording of a talking-picture film in different languages. Specification 347,625 is referred to.
