368,656. Distributing music &c. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Aug. 19, 1931, No. 23361. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1930. [Class 40 (iv).] A phantommed quad is used for distributing three programmes from wireless receiving sets, talking machines, or microphones, arrangements being provided for accurately balancing the various circuits. As shown the programmes are sent over the side circuits 4, 5 and 6, 7 by transformers 1, 2 and over the phantom by transformer 3. The phantom tap is taken from the mid-point 15 of a low impedance choke 14 connected between the halves 8, 9 of a higher impedance choke shunted across the conductors of a side circuit, and any unbalance is corrected by adjustable resistances 18, 19 connected to taps on choke 14. Differences in resistance of individual conductors are corrected by potentiometers 22, 23, and leakance between the conductors is made uniform by interconnected potentiometers 31, 32. Variations in leakance to ground are corrected by potentiometers 20, 21. Capacity unbalances are corrected by capacities 26, 27 connected between ground and potentiometers 24, 25, and by a capacity 30 connected between potentiometers 28, 29. Switches 33 are provided to enable the various adjustments to be made separately. The distant ends of the side-circuits are terminated by tapped chokes, and a loud-speaker may be connected across either choke or across the mid-points of the two chokes.
