Abstract
367,736. Flower-holders. ROY, W. 0., 1207, Drummond Street, Montreal, Canada. Sept. 29, 1931, No. 27059. [Class 43.] In holders for cut flowers comprising a flexible body 2 adapted to contain water and having an open neck 1 wherethrough flower stems 9 are passed, the space between the stems and the neck is closed by a plastic sealing element 11. The neck 1 may be of metal and be formed with beads 3, 4, 5, and the body 2 may be of rubber, sprung over the beads, and secured by cement. A sealing element such as paraffin wax or a moisture resistant plastic cement such as a soft oil putty is poured or inserted in the neck and allowed to solidify. A packing 10 of moss or the like may be inserted below the sealing element. The flexibility of the body 2 is such that it takes up any back suction consequent upon the withdrawal of water up the stems. A number of necks may be formed on the flexible body so that a plurality of groups of flowers may be carried by one container as may be desired for flowers, for example, in cemeteries. The holder may be coloured.
