Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Classes 37 and 53.] An apparatus for measuring resistance or detecting faults in the filaments of thermionic valves comprises a tubular box 1 containing one or more battery elements 4, the box being provided with two connecting points 6, 7, Fig. 1, one of which may be connected to an electrical measuring instrument such as a galvanometer or voltmeter the other being connected to a flexible wire with a contact-making extremity, or being formed with a contact stud or point. Resistance is measured by the deflection of the measuring instrument when the two free contacts of the apparatus are connected across the resistance to be measured. The tubular box 1 may have its ends closed by insulating plugs 2, 3 one of which is provided with a contact point 6, Fig. 2, connected with one pole of the battery 4 by a spring 5 and the other is provided with a contact stud 7 having a hollow resilient terminal capable of gripping the contact point of a pocket voltmeter or its connecting cord. These battery connections may be formed on the battery itself and the tube 1 dispensed with. For testing filaments of thermionic valves a valve socket mav be mounted on the box itself so as to receive the valve to be tested.
