Abstract
Synthetic resins are prepared by precipitating an aromatic amine-aldehyde condensation product in the presence of a suitable pulp during beating, at an elevated temperature, whereby large particles of resin are produced which adhere to the fibres of the pulp. If the resin is required as an insulator, the precipitation is carried out at a lower temperature, the product washed to remove electrolytes, and the particle size then built up by heating. The temperatures employed are from 40-100 DEG C., the best results being obtained at 50-60 DEG C. The process is also applicable to the manufacture of moulding mixtures using fillers such as wood flour or asbestos. Specification 352,140 is referred to.ALSO:Containing artificial resins and fibres.-An aromatic amine-aldehyde condensation product is precipitated in the presence of a suitable pulp during beating, at an elevated temperature, whereby large particles of resin are produced which adhere to the fibres. The temperatures specified are 40-100 DEG C., the best results being obtained at 50-60 DEG C. The process is also applicable to the manufacture of moulding mixtures using fillers such as wood flour or asbestos. Specification 352,140 is referred to.
