Abstract

361,827. Fire, police, and like alarm systems. MAKHONINE, I., 11, Rue BrÚmontier, Paris. Aug. 31, 1931, No. 24477. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1930. [Class 40 (i).] The setting movements of a dial-type transmitter for certain multi-digit numbers are effected by the passage through a slot 10 of a disc 17, Fig. 2, appropriate to the desired number, the disc having apertures 21 adapted to engage a pinion 9 geared with the finger-plate 3 for successive periods in accordance with the spacing of a series of holes 23. The disc is held in engagement with the pinion 9 by a spring-pressed plate 16, and, as soon as the dial moves off-normal, a stop 18 controlled by its restoring spring is removed from a lever 11, allowing a second spring-pressed plate 13 to bear against the disc, so that it is moved laterally out of engagement with the pinion as soon as the first of the holes 23 comes opposite a projection 20 adapted to engage therein. The dial then transmits the first train of impulses, and on its return to normal, the stop 18 strikes the lever 11 and retracts the plate 13 to allow the next setting movement to take place. The operation continues until the complete number has been transmitted. By this arrangement; the dial may be operated automatically to call the fire station or police station. The appropriate disc is then provided with a driving weight and ia held suspended over the slot 10 by a catch which is removed to release the disc by the energization of a relay controlled by a thermostat or by a burglar alarm, means being provided to lift the telephone receiver at the same time. The subscriber may be warned by an alarm signal, and will find himself in Communication with the fire station or police station. If desired a phonograph may be started near the microphone to transmit the address of the building.
