[Class 126.] An incinerator, fire-basket, or the like comprises an open-ended body portion with legs or extensions at both top and bottom so that it may be inverted, together with a grate or fuel support adapted to be supported at the lower end ; the life of the device is prolonged by inverting it, so that the same part of the body is not always in the hottest zone. Fig. 1 shows an incinerator having an invertible body 1 with legs 2 at top and bottom and a conical fuel support 6 having a downturned flange 6a engaging over the upturned ends of brackets 4, by .which it is positioned in the body with an air-space around its periphery. In a modification the support 6 is carried below the bottom of the body 1 by brackets attached to the legs 2, in which case it may be of somewhat greater diameter than the body. In a further modification, the body 1 is extended beyond the brackets 4 which carry the support 6, and is unprovided with feet. A portion of the wall of each extension is cut away to form an ash-pit opening, a detachable plate covering the cut-away part at the top end. The fuel-support or grate, Fig. 6, may be perforated and have a central aperture 6b from which extend bars 7 forming a central air-space in the fire. Fig. 7 shows an alternative form of grate, comprising a wire or rods 11 welded or otherwise secured to a ring 12. Fig. 9 shows an invertible fire-basket comprising rings to which are secured vertical bars, some of which are extended at each end to form feet 14b, whilst the ends 14c of the remainder are splayed outwardly to facilitate feeding in the fuel. The bottom grate is formed with projections resting on the lower ring and extending between the vertical bars.
