360,157. Brake transmitting- mechanism. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET BROMSREGULATOR, 5, Adelgatan, Malm÷, Sweden. Oct. 13, 1930, No. 30585. Convention date, Dec. 3,1929. [Class 103 (i).] In a brake rigging for railway cars and the like having means for adapting the pressure on the brake shoes according to the load on the car, one, or more, brake levers is provided with two or more spaced pivots each coacting with a movable abutment, the abutments being so connected that when one of them is brought into action the other, or others, are brought simultaneously out of action. The brake lever 2 pivoted at one end to the pistonrod 3 of the brake cylinder 1 is connected by the pull-rod 4, Fig. 3, to the brake shoes and is pivotally attached by pins 6, 7 to plunger bars 9, 10, Fig. 5, a spring 5 normally pressing both plunger bars away from two abutments 13, 14 fixed, at rightangles to each other, on a transverse shaft 12 operated through a crank 12a. To prevent the abutments taking an intermediate position a crank member 17 on the shaft 12 is acted on by a coil spring 18. For a loaded car the lever 2 pivots about the pin 6, the abutment 13 acting as a stop for the plunger 9 and when the car is empty the shaft 12 is rotated so that the abutment 14 acts as a stop for the plunger 10 and the lever 2 pivots about the pin 7.
