Abstract

357,609. Time-pieces. VALLI, A., 553, Defensa Street, Buenos Aires, Argentine. May 26, 1930, No. 16232. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 28, 1930.] [Class 139.] Dials.-In a twenty-four hour clock or watch, wherein the hour, numbers 1-11 and 13-23 are in pairs on rotary spindles for alteration of the series every twelve hours, an indicator bearing the numerals 0, 12, 24 is also used. The pairs 1, 13-2, 14-&c. are on spindles, of which one has a wheel 4 entrained with ten wheels 5, wheel 4 having a pawl 25 which coacts with a ratchet disc 9 which is free on the spindle and rigid with a wheel 10 meshing with a sector 14 on an arm 12 pivoted at 11 and having a pin 13 controlled by a cam 1 on the stem 2 of the hour hand, so that every twelve hours sector 14 rotates wheel 10 to change the number series. Pin 26 and arm 27 prevent backward rotation of wheel 4. At the top of the dial the numerals 0, 12, 24 are rigid with a triangular plate 6 having a stop 22 which, with arm 23, prevents backward movement and a spring 24 aligns the plate on each of its three angular positions. A pawl 21 on plate 6 coacts with a disc 7 with two teeth, this being freely mounted and rigid with a wheel 8 which meshes with a sector on an arm 16 which is pivoted at 15 and has a roller 17 coacting with arm 12 and cam 1. Fig. 1 shows the position just before midnight, the numerals 13 .. 24 being visible beyond the edge of the masking disc 28. Shortly after midnight cam 1 reaches the position of Fig. 2, the arm 12 moving to change the number series and arm 16 moving to rotate disc 7 and plate 6 through 120‹ changing the hour number " 24 " to " 0." At 1 a.m. roller 17 drops off the point of cam 1, disc 7 rotates plate 6 a further 120‹ and hour numeral " 0 " changes to " 12." Just before noon cam 1 restores arm 16 clockwise so that disc 7 is rotated backwards 240‹, plate 6 remaining stationary, at the same time lever 12 also rotates disc 9 counterclockwise but parts 26, 27 hold the wheels 4, 5 stationary. Shortly after noon disc 7 rotates forward 120‹, but this merely brings a tooth on disc 7 up to pawl 21. At 1 p.m. the next rotation of disc 7 through 120‹ changes the number shown by plate 6 from 12 to 24. At the same time lever 12, rotating counterclockwise, rotates wheels 4, 5 clockwise to change the hour numbers from 1 .. 11 to 13 .. 23.
