Abstract

357,568. Automatic exchange systems. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON, 33, Kungsgatan, Stockholm. June 21, 1930, No. 18990. Convention date, June 28, 1929. [Class 40 (iv).] At a first group selector, partial operation of a two-step relay holds the release relay and full operation thereof, on response of the called party or at the end of conversation, effects metering. Repeated metering impulses may be sent in accordance with the destination of the call. Release relay HR is operated by line relay IR, and when switching relay PR operates, an ineffective circuit is completed for two-step relay SR which is differentially wound, RR pulls up in place of IR and operates TR which directly short circuits the upper winding of SR but, as resistance R is in series with the lower winding, this relay partially operates and closes contacts 10 to hold release relay HR. Relay RR repeats impulses in a loop circuit over the junction. When metering relay MR is operated in any known manner, the lower winding of SR and resistance R are short circuited and SR operates fully over its upper winding to complete the circuit of meter SM. When the calling party replaces his receiver RR falls back and releases TR so that SR falls back and releases HR. The two step relay may have a single winding in series with a resistance which is short-circuited by MR, and may be provided with two armatures operated by currents of different strengths.
